About Us Introduction
The Rotary Club of Harrisburg is one of 34,000 Rotary clubs now located in over 200 countries. Our centennial anniversary of service to the local and global community was celebrated in May, 2011. Locally, since 2001, RCH has provided over $247,800 of support directly to the Harrisburg School District, Harrisburg school student college scholarships, Ecology scholarships, scholarships to the Rotary Leaders Conference, and countless volunteer hours for these and other youth focused projects, including 300 students that received free vision screening. The club also supports the Youth Community Development Team (YCDT). The goal of the 35 to 40 students enrolled each year in YCDT is to learn about philanthropy, raise money and actually award a grant to a local non profit organization. Internationally, RCH supports Rotary International with donations and member participation in polio immunization. RCH members are currently active in projects in the Dominican Republic , where a dental project has been steadily growing over the past 10 years, and in Haiti .
The main objective of Rotary is service — in the community, in the workplace, and throughout the world. Rotarians develop community service projects that address many of today's most critical issues, such as children at risk, poverty and hunger, the environment, illiteracy, and violence. We also support programs for youth, educational opportunities and international exchanges for students, teachers, and other professionals, and vocational and career development.
Since our founding in 1911,
the Rotary Club of Harrisburg has been dedicated to doing good in the world. With more than 200 members, we are one of the largest clubs in the area. Our members include some of the region’s most prominent business, professional, and civic leaders. We gather at weekly meetings and other functions to fulfill our commitment to the Rotarian ideals of friendship, fellowship, and service to others.

Our Philanthropic Work...
In addition to supporting the world-wide Rotary International Foundation Program, the Rotary Club of Harrisburg has its own foundation to support local causes. This foundation develops policy on areas of charitable interest and solicits proposals and makes grants annually. The Foundation is the repository of all funds realized on activities carried out for charitable and educational purposes. All monies appropriated out of the regular funds of the Club for he foregoing purposes shall likewise be paid into the Foundation. The Foundation shall be administered by a Board of Trustees consisting of nine members of the Club. The Trustees meet a minimum of once in each quarter. All requests for contributions made to the Club will be investigated by the Foundation Trustees and after due deliberation be voted on by the same. In addition to the administration of all expenditures of the Club for charitable and educational purposes, the Foundation will investigate and screen all money-raising projects suggested for the club’s adoption. A long-range consistent purpose will guide the Foundation in its recommendation of suitable projects.
