Griddles to Graduates…ROTARY CLUB OF HARRISBURG COLLABORATES WITH HARRISBURG SCHOOL DISTRICT FOR ANNUAL PANCAKE BREAKFAST!
Proceeds from breakfast to provide scholarships for Harrisburg Students!

Harrisburg, PA  - On Saturday, October 24, 2009 people will pack the cafeteria of the John Harris High School to enjoy the Rotary Club of Harrisburg’s 13th Annual Apple Harvest Pancake Breakfast benefiting the students of the Harrisburg School District. This year’s event is of special significance to the John Harris High community as it honors Evangeline Kimber and Carolyn Henry in a memorial service; two dedicated and beloved staff that left an indelible mark on the students and families in the school district.

Guests may enjoy the pancake meal beginning at 8 AM through 12 PM…the perfect brunch!  Tickets are $6 per adult and $4 per student.  Advance sale tickets available now through Rotary members.  Additional tickets may be purchased at the door the morning of the event.

In addition to scrumptious pancakes, guests will enjoy entertainment by students, participation in Family University Day and a chance to bid on silent auction items generously donated by Rotarians.  The big ticket item of the day will be the raffling off of a large flat screen television –a 52 inch LCD. “The diversity of the silent auction items and the thrill of possibly winning a flat-screen television help our organization raise additional funds for the school besides just the ticket sales,” commented Pancake Committee Co-Chair, Karen Paris.

This year’s proceeds will benefit Harrisburg School District students and schools in four ways with funding going to scholarships, Sci-Tech High, Pre-K program and the Ben Franklin Academy.  “This is why we flip!,” noted Pancake Committee Co-Chair Jacqueline Jackson-DeGarcia, “We flip pancakes to raise money for the terrific kids in the Harrisburg Schools.  This event is not only our club’s largest fundraiser of the year but it is the high watermark of our giving as we are able to provide scholarships in the $2,000 range in addition to thousands of dollars for other schools and programs,” DeGarcia said.

Last year the Rotary Club of Harrisburg in conjunction with the Harrisburg School District raised $22,000.
