YCDT - Young Leaders Debate the Merits of Change Proposals

DSCN0661.JPGWith comfortable greetings of familiar respect, the young leaders from three high schools arrived with enthusiasm for their learning experience in team building and philanthropy.  Una Martone, President of Leadership Harrisburg welcomed the group and congratulated the students on the initial funding of more than $3,000.  The students signed thank you notes to the donors. The group quickly launched the day's activities with a mind teasing team game provided by Wendell Murray of Barak Inc.  Designed to get students and adults to think creatively and look at options when looking at word patterns it was a great start for the day of listening, analysis and discussion.

Gates commits $355 Million to Rotary

This is another historic day for Rotary. Our organization was honored today to host philanthropist Bill Gates, Jr. at Rotary’s International Assembly in San Diego, California, USA. 

Speaking to 2009-2010 district governors-elect, Bill Gates, Jr. congratulated Rotarians on the success of the partnership between Rotary International and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to raise funds for polio. To date, Rotarians have already committed more than US$60 million toward the original US$100 million Gates challenge grant awarded in November 2007.

Young Leaders Want Peers to Dream with Eyes Wide Open

DSCN0583.JPGThe young leaders gathered in their teams in the conference room of the Harrisburg Regional Chamber of Commerce.  They were prepared to share an urgent need with community leaders.  Their passion for changing the world through education warmed the bitterly cold day as they rehearsed prior to the arrival of potential donors to their project.

Young Leaders Demonstrate Passion for Change

DSCN0571.JPGThe holidays are a time for celebrating our friends and family, what we value in our lives and to renew our faith in the good spirit of the people in the community we serve.  As students gathered for the monthly Youth Community Development Team session in the conference room at the Harrisburg Regional Chamber of Commerce, their passion for change demonstrated the future for our community is strong.
