YCDT accepting grant applications through March 1, 2012

Local high school students in the Youth Community Development Team, a leadership development program facilitated by the Rotary Club of Harrisburg and Leadership Harrisburg Area, are accepting applications for a one time grant award of $5,000.  Organizations that have programs or projects that address “Basic Human Needs” and are offered in the City of Harrisburg, with primary focus on families, are eligible to apply.

Robin Scaer receives Rotary Club of Harrisburg’s Robert D. Hanson Rotary Excellence Award

Robin Scaer was awarded the Rotary Club of Harrisburg’s Robert D. Hanson Rotary Excellence Award on Monday, January 23, 2012 at the club’s weekly meeting at the Hilton Harrisburg.  Scaer was selected for the Hanson award for her exemplary service and dedicated leadership to the Rotary club and the greater Harrisburg community.  This annually bestowed award celebrates the life, legacy, and service of the late Robert Hanson – a long-time club member and model Rotarian.

Youth Community Development Team Presentation

LHA-RotaryJoin the Youth Community Development Team (YCDT) for a presentation on how they determined basic needs were critical to our community on Tuesday, February 7th from 12 – 1PM at the Harrisburg Regional Chamber of Commerce, 3211 North Front St.

 

YCDT is project launched as part of the Rotary International Centennial celebration of service and provides leadership learning experiences for Juniors and Seniors from Harrisburg, SciTech and Bishop McDevitt High Schools during a monthly Rotary volunteer lead program each school year.

 

This month the students will be trained in making philanthropic presentations by club member Marion Alexander.
